Adaptive Motorsports & Wellness

We have taken a unique racing experience, enjoyed by thousands of Americans, and developed a way to make it available to the more than 50 million citizens with disabilities.

“Since the development of the automobile in the late 1800’s, driving has always been seen as a right of passage as teenagers obtain their license and enhance their freedom. For some, physical impairments and disabilities took away that “right of passage” restricting their ability to operate motor vehicles.

With the invention of hand controls, driving capabilities have improved, but they are still limited. The training for advanced control systems is also limited. The VXP II Driving Simulator is an advanced control system that is working to change that. After seeing what Accessible Racing has to offer, you will clearly understand that anything is truly possible!”
– Debra Freed, New England PVA

Our VXP II Driving Simulator changes everything. We have developed an advanced control system and a simulated driving experience, as well as on-track opportunities to bring racing back to those with disabilities.

    Commitment Team

    Brian Hannaford

Involved in a devastating car accident leaving him temporarily paralyzed, Brian was fortunate to be able to relearn how to walk, talk and perform daily activities. Though the experience placed him in a dark space with a mental list of things he could no longer do, and had very little motivation to live life on lifes terms.

A defining moment that changed his life was the experience of working with a fellow disabled person during a simulated driving experience. The shouts of joy over the sound of the motor, and the sight of tears streaming down his cheeks is how Brian learned that helping someone experience something like mobility was way more fun then feeling sorry for himself and living in his depression.

    Doug Larsen

Doug has close to 30 years of experience in various phases of law enforcement and is the former director of the Utah Department of Public Safety Emergency Vehicle Operations Program. Throughout his career he has facilitated the execution of distinctive law enforcement training initiatives, including the streamlining of operations, creating policy, and managing fleet operations and staff on a state-wide basis. He was solely responsible for developing curriculum and adapting technology to meet all training and legal requirements.
